Giovanni Rainaldi was born on 12th September 1944 in  Rome. His father was Luigi and his mother Josephina Silva, a Brazilian woman. He is  a descendent of a noble family of architect and painters. His ancestor built a lot of houses in Rome: the beautiful church of Scalzi in Caprarola (Viterbo); the Palace of Municipality and the dome of “Annunziata” in Parma, Pamphili palace in Rome, the noble floor of sanatorium palace in Campidoglio by a technical drawing of Michelangelo, the “ Sant’andrea della valle”’s church in Rome, “Santa Maria in Campitelli”, some rooms of San Pietro’s dome and different fountains and XVII century palaces.

Since his childhood, he shows his particular artistic skill, glory of his family. He emerges at school for his original   “Cenacolo” copy of Leonardo da Vinci, so he wins at 13 the first prize in a secondary school competition and his work is exposed at “Agostiniana”in Rome.
His portraits, made during his adolescent, like that of  Pope Giovanni XXIII° and personality of Risorgimento as Mazzini, Cavour and Garibaldi, are very elegant and fine.
During this period his specialization on portrait leads him soon in Montorio Romano, where he realizes by request, two paints of “ Giovanna Angeletti” and “Cesare Augusto Venettoni”.
At 19, he is called for paint the church of “ Madonna del Carmine” in Montelibretti”. After several years, he receives from famous roman gallery important prizes . [ more ]
